accident-warren park.pngOne person died while another was seriously injured in a road traffic accident which occurred at the Warren Park D roundabout in Harare early this Tuesday.

The truck, which was destined for Chinhoyi, was loaded with bread when it veered off the road at the Warren Park D roundabout and hit a pedestrian before overturning several times.

The pedestrian died on the spot.

Though there were no eyewitnesses at the time this news crew arrived at the scene, police say initial investigations show that the driver might have failed to negotiate the roundabout curve due to speeding.

In a telephone interview with ZBC News, Acting Traffic Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said the name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the lorry, who sustained some injuries, was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment.
