Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Administration, Cde Edson Ncube has died.

 

He was 74.

 

Cde Ncube succumbed to severe anemia at Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo this Sunday morning.

 

Family spokesperson, Mrs Silvia Gumbo said the entire family is deeply saddened by the death of a loving family member.

 

Zanu PF Acting Bulawayo Provincial Chairman, Cde Kilion Sibanda said the death of Cde Ncube is a sad loss not only to the family but to the nation.

 

He said the party’s provincial executive has recommended that Cde Ncube be accorded a national hero status.

 

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association Chairman, Cde Jabulani Sibanda said Cde Ncube contributed immensely to the liberation of the country.

 

Cde Ncube was born on the 28th of December 1938 in Tsholotsho district and did his primary education at Matshudula, Sipepa and Luveve schools.


He wrote his ordinary levels through correspondence.


Cde Ncube’s political career dates back to the early 1960s when he joined nationalist movements such as the ANC, NDP, ZAPU and PCC.

 

He was arrested and detained on several occasions by the Smith regime.

 

Cde Ncube was part of the integrating team in the signing of the Unity Accord between PF ZAPU and Zanu PF in 1987.

 
Between 1990 and 1995, he was the Member of Parliament for Mpopoma Constituency in Bulawayo.

 

Cde Ncube is survived by five children.

 

Mourners are gathered in block 88 / 7670 in Mpopoma.

 

Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
