red_cross.jpgThe corporate world has been called upon to support the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) with funds and materials in a bid to have the nation stand on its own in times of disasters or disease outbreaks.

Speaking to ZBC News, ZRCS Acting Secretary General Lucky Goteka appealed to Zimbabweans to offer their support so that the country could be able to tackle natural issues as they arise, without having to run to the international world for assistance.

Goteka said international assistance should only be called for when the country is faced with a severe crisis.

“We are appealing to the local community to partner us and support us with funds ad other materials. We don’t have to always look for assistance from the international community. Through local support, we can stand on our own,” said Goteka.

The ZRCS offers humanitarian aid to the country and is in existence through Act 30 of 1981 of the Zimbabwean Parliament.
