Addressing a Joint Staff Course Number 25 at the Zimbabwe Staff College, Minister Mzembi said the forces play a critical role in the development of tourism in a country endowed with vast natural resources that include pristine wildlife, wonderful climate and the majestic Victoria Falls.

Cde Mzembi said there is need for the country to harness these resources for the benefit of the country and growth of the economy but the country still has to address challenges at immigration, ZIMRA and customs barriers.

“North African countries like Morocco, Libya and Egypt have been rocked with political unrests and have recorded low tourists arrivals, and this clearly shows that tourism growth is pillared on peace and stability,” he said.

Cde Mzembi also called a unified communication model among various media houses, saying they should speak with one voice to promote the country’s sovereignty, independence and economic stability.

Experts have attributed the growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism sector to the country’s security stability and armed forces have played a vital role in ensuring a stable environment.
