victoria-falls-.jpgCabinet has approved and adopted all the recommendations of the Working Party of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the hosting of the UNWTO General Assembly to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Zambia on the 26th of August next year.

This was said by the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Cde Walter Mzembi at a press briefing in the capital.

Cde Mzembi said after the recommendation by cabinet what is needed is support from Treasury.

Cde Mzembi said cabinet has also resolved that the country should take advantage of the event to build its own post independence legacy through the building of a Convention Centre.

Before the hosting of the event next year, the UNWTO conventional technical teams from the organisation’s headquarters in Spain are expected to visit Zimbabwe and Zambia for at least five times to inspect preparations before the event.

Zimbabwe will also play host to the official opening ceremony of the General Assembly where it will get the chance to display the highest level of organisation and project a positive image to the whole world.
