The National Gallery of Zimbabwe will be hosting the Holiday Art Camp this month under the gallery’s Department of Education where school children will showcase creativity through painting, drawing and crafts.
National Gallery of Zimbabwe Education Curator, Tashinga Gondo said The Holiday Art Camp serves to provide children with space in which to gain knowledge of the arts and develop their visual creative abilities under the guidance of a Visual Arts Instructor.
The art camp will allow children to explore different art media including painting, drawing and crafts.
The Holiday Art Camp serves as a forum to encourage creativity in schools as well as rewarding excellence and giving schools the opportunity to view work from others.
A local arts company, La Rue is supplying material to the children.
Participating students will put up a show of their work created during the week long camp.
Students will also be awarded with certificates and prizes in recognition of their talent.
The Holiday Art Camp will take place in the gallery’s sculpture garden and will be divided into three categories from the ages of six and 20 and will run from the 20th to the 24th of this month.
