In a bid to revive gospel music, Celebration Choir has released a double CD album that blends contemporary Christian music with traditional African rhythms.
After receiving both national and international recognition for their album titled “Singing with the Angels”, the group continues to capture the hearts of many with a blend of African chants and rhythms following their trip to various African countries.
Featured in their new music repertoire and on the double CD album are African Chantings, featuring Swahili, Shona and Ndebele voices.
“I wanted to come up with something African and big because God is majestic and grand because we are Africans. My music is drawn from African musicians and their musical perspective from Africa. It is all about the message in the music,” said the group's leader, singer and award winning song writer, Bonnie Deuschle.
Most of the songs on the new musical format do give hope to Zimbabweans through their live praise and worship programmes.
Most of these songs are inspired by traditional hymns, fused with African languages.
The group recently toured Kenya and other Eastern African countries where they mastered the art of blending various African instruments with contemporary ones.
The choir has also been nominated in the South African Kora Music Awards for the Best Spiritual Group.
