Producers of talent search show, StarBrite, say they expect stiff competition at the forthcoming national finals after discovering the country’s abundant abilities in the arts during the provincial auditions.
Director and Executive producer of StarBrite, Barney Mupariwa expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming response that came from local youths during the provincial competitions which are currently showing on ZBC TV.
He said they are ready to host the national finals this August amid high optimism that the finals will feature some of the country’s budding cream in the arts.
“We are happy with the input we got from the provinces, personally I never expected that the show could be that big,” said Mupariwa.
He however called on the corporate sector to assist with finances to allow for more organized staging of the event and better incentives for aspiring artists.
“What we have seen is that there is abundant talent in the country but our biggest challenge still remains the issue of sponsorship,” he added.
Successful artists from the various provinces have been given an opportunity to gain skills through a boot camp held in May.
The winner of the talent show is set to get a travel opportunity to tour the USA and a prize money of R200 000.
