books.jpgThe Zimbabwe International Book Fair executive board has urged the country’s authors to be united in finding stern measures that will stop piracy ahead of the forthcoming ZIBF 2012 fair.

ZIBF executive board chairperson, Mr. Musa Zimunya called on the country’s authors to take advantage of the forthcoming ZIBF 2012 running from the 30th of next month to the 4th of August and come up with measures that curb piracy.

Mr. Zimunya said authors have for long been robbed of their profits by pirates who download and sell books without paying royalties to owners of publications.

This year's book fair runs under the theme “African Literature in the Global and Digital Era”, which the board says gives a platform for players and stakeholders in the book industry to learn and harness new technologies.

Other activities that have been included in this year’s book fair week include Young Persons’ Indaba, Traders Day, Book Fair Exhibitions and Writers’ Workshops.

The areas of discussions include “The global impact of African Literature “, “Problems of African Identities” and “Copyright Access to Books and Piracy in Africa.“
