visual_art.jpgThis year’s annual Young Visual Art Exhibition and competition has kicked off at Gallery Delta in Harare with close to a hundred works by young artists from various colleges and universities on display.

Visual artist and curator of the exhibition, Admire Matsvisi, says a number of young artists from colleges and universities have already submitted their works for selection and the response has been overwhelming.

“The response this year has been very good as compared to previous years. Close to 100 artists from all the countries universities and colleges came to the gallery with their works which are of high quality and standard,” said Matsvisi.

The works currently on display includes paintings and graphics looking at social issues, various multi-media sculptures and objects.

This year, the presentation and the standard of the pieces submitted has improved due to the recently held exhibition and workshop under the theme ‘Found Object’ which was sponsored by the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust.

A painting workshop is also underway at the gallery and the viewing public is being invited to evaluate new and developing talent.

Participating artists include Anthony Bumhira, Wycliffe Mundopa, Terrence Musekiwa, George Chibwana, Keith Zenda, Petronella Chekerwa, Franklyn Dzingayi, Victor Nyakauru and Anne Mutema, among others.
