tindo.jpgAward winning novelist, poet and script writer, Shimmer Chinodya has published his 14th novel titled 'Tindo’s Quest' which is centered on the life of a 12 year old boy raised by foster parents but later embarks on a journey to look for his biological mother.

In the book, prominent writer Chinodya relates how the boy Tindo then tried to investigate and search for his real mother.

Sadly, nobody in the family is prepared to tell him the truth.

His unbreakable resolve however proves to be nearly self-destructive.

This is a book for ordinary readers and for those into family law, culture and history.

Chinodya is one of the most outstanding writers from among those who became prominent after Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980.

His recent works tend to dwell on the young individual in the family in the fast-changing times in Zimbabwe.

A veteran educationist, Chinodya is close to children’s issues and is also an author of several award winning novels, among them Harvest of Thorns which won the Commonwealth Writers Prize in 1990, Dew in The Morning in 1982, Farai Girls in 1984, Chairman of Fools in 2005, Strive in 2006 and several school textbooks.

His series called 'Step Ahead: New Secondary School English Course' is read in nearly all-Zimbabwean schools.

Between 1995 and 1997, he was Visiting Professor in Creative Writing and African Literature at St Lawrence University in the USA.

He also holds an Honours Degree in English from the University of Zimbabwe and an MA in Creative Writing from American University, Lowa.
