The state has called for a death penalty in the case of a 34 year old man convicted of murdering his brother.

Masimba Juru of Musana communal lands in Mashonaland Central province stabbed to death his brother Chakanetsa Juru with a knife after an altercation over cultural beliefs.

High Court Judge, Justice Chinembiri Bhunu convicted Masimba of murder with actual intent.

Marimba’s defence council had asked the court not to give him capital punishment.

It has been established that Masimba wanted the family to consult traditional healers and establish the cause of the death of his brother’s child.

However, the deceased is alleged to have refused saying he was a Christian and witch hunting was against his beliefs.

This did not go down well with Masimba who stabbed his brother on the chest leading to his death.
