 A four-year old girl has been kidnapped from her family home by unknown assailants who raped her in a nearby cabin in a horrific incident that has left Avondale West residents shocked.
The traumatic rape incident happened in Avondale West during the early hours of Friday morning.
The yet-to-be-identified persons daringly entered the girl's family house through a window and kidnapped her. Two cell phones were also stolen.
The minor’s parents only realised their daughter was missing later and made a police report.
The minor’s father was at a loss for words about the horrific incident which he said will live to torment him for the rest of his life.
“What happened is very painful, but I suspect those who stay in a nearby squatter camp could be responsible. I am at a loss as to whether my child will ever forget this incident,” he said.
The girl was later found at a backyard cabin at a house about five hundred metres away from her home. It is suspected the rape incident took place in the cabin.
“We saw the girl in the cabin crying, unable to say what had happened and we took her to her family home,” said one resident.
Police have so far arrested four suspects who are currently detained at Avondale Police Station.
The sad incident also provoked the feelings of the aggrieved family’s neighbours who said if arrested, the criminals behind the horrific act should face the full wrath of the law.
The four-year old girl was taken to Harare Central Hospital for medical examinations and treatment.
