A Mining Tools and Plant Equipment Conference is on the cards in a development that is expected to aid in capacitating the sector.
The conference that has been slated for next month in the capital is expected to showcase implements, products and services in the industry and create linkages that give locals technological advantage in exploiting mineral resources.
Mining Tools and Plant Equipment Conference Project Director, Mr Francis Bingadadi said the conference seeks to develop sustainable mining infrastructure that will aid the competitiveness of the sector in light of recovering world minerals and metal prices.
The two-day conference and expo, which will run from the 17th to the 18th of July, is expected to bring under one roof mining houses, engineers, and experts in the field.
It will also cater for related sectors such as agriculture and construction.
Infrastructure development is regarded as a key element in the resuscitation of the economy with an estimated US$14 billion required for infrastructure projects in the country by 2014.
