Predictions being made by some online publications that the earth will collide with another planet in June this year, are mere doomsday theories bent on instilling fear and confusion worldwide, a Zimbabwean geologist has said.
Fear that the world is coming to an end have come after some scientists have predicted that earth will collide with a planet called nibiru in June this year.
According to the scientists the collision will cause the destruction of earth.
University of Zimbabwe Geology Lecturer Dr Dennis Shoko says this is quasi-science.
Dr Shoko says the planet earth is far away from the much talked about nibiru planet which is said to collide with earth.
The predictions of the world coming to an end began a long time ago and some notable predictions include the one by William Miller who predicted Christ would return to earth between March 21, 1843 and March 21, 1844.
Chuck Smith predicted that Jesus would probably return by 1981.
A Korean group, "Mission for the Coming Days", predicted October 28, 1992 as being the date of the Rapture.
Last year, 90-year old American Christian radio broadcaster Harold Camping predicted that 21st of May 2011 would be judgement day, a day when all those who have been doing good will go and meet God in heaven.
Camping also said October 21st 2011 will be the day when evil doers will be burnt by a flame from heaven.
According to the Bible in Matthew 24 verse 36, 'But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.'
So all those days have come and gone and the prophets have been shifting goal posts, clearly showing that only God knows the day.
