Although the Organisation of African Unity and its successor, the African Union, have registered many achievements since its formation in 1963, the continental body has not fared well in dealing with internal crises such as happened in Libya where NATO was given the licence to invade an African state.

The 2nd school term began this Tuesday after a one month break but the phrase ‘back to school’ seems to have lost its relevance as most of these children actually spent most of their ‘holidays’ going to school.
The ZBC News spoke to some anxious parents who lamented this and other problems bedevilling the education sector.
Zimbabwe is well known for having a sound education system that has elevated the country to have one of the highest literacy rates in Africa but the recent upsurge in the number of students who require ‘extra’ help with their studies is looming like a dark cloud over this spotless record.
As the 2nd school term opens one would expect after a seven week break that students would be well rested, robust and ready for the new term but it seems this is not the case.

The Draft is 172 pages long.
