A local drama production company has worked on a film, “Sores of Emmanuelâ€, which portrays and attempts to tackle the challenges faced by single fathers in family responsibilities.Â
Through a character, Emmanuel Mutema, a single father who is left to take care of the family after his wife dies, the film explores the difficulties of a single father in playing a dual responsibility of both mother and father.
Mutema, whose children were academically gifted, failed to raise money to cater for their needs and at one point his property was attached by a messenger of court.
It is from this experience that Emmanuel decides to look for the precious stone ,â€ngoda,†which was his hope in sourcing money to cater for his children’s education.
Besides falling prey to bogus dealers, Emanuel also suffers pain at the hands of his cruel nephew’s wife during his stay in Harare.
Writer and director of the film Mr. Eddy Ndlovu said unlike the general assumptions that only women go through difficulties as single parents, Sores of Emmanuel attempts to give the other side.
The film is produced by Charles Mutyavaviri, Charity Dlodlo, Blessing Chimhowa popularly known as “Mbudzi yadhura†from the local drama series Gringo, Edmore Sandifolo who featured in “Tiriparwendo as Chabvonga, Antony Tongai, Stella Kazingizi, ZBC’s Marion Shaba and Ryan Husein.
