The construction of a state of the art hospital in Mhondoro Mubaira is expected to ease the burden for residents in the area, many of whom had to travel to Harare to access specialist services.

The Dr Richard Mariga Hospital, the brainchild of the St John Apostolic Church to the whole world, will be constructed with the aid of the Mhondoro Mubaira community and will see specialist medical personnel being engaged at the centre.

The groundbreaking ceremony held recently, saw the member of the National Assembly, Cde George Gangarahwe, affirming his support for such developmental projects which are complimentary to government efforts in availing health care to the nation.

Expectations are that by the end of the year, the facility should be up and running.

The church also took time to disburse one tonne of rice, cooking oil and utensils to the elderly.

10 wheelchairs were also donated to disabled members of the church and the community.
