Rural District Councils (RDCs) have expressed optimism that the country’s new political leadership led by President Designate Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa will prioritise rural advancement in its development and empowerment strategy in order for all people to have a fair share of the national cake.

In an interview with the ZBC News Chipinge RDC acting chief executive officer Engineer Henry Dhliwayo says recapitalisation of rural authorities, promotion of ease of doing business by all government departments and provision of basic infrastructure remains the cornerstone of rural development.

With the majority of Zimbabwean population living in rural areas and an increase in rural urban migration being a national challenge, the need to make rural economies more viable and attract more investments remain critical.
