Newly-appointed Southern Rocks and Mid-West Rhinos coaches, Martin Lynch and Jason Gillepsie have expressed satisfaction with the talent abound in local cricket, after watching their sides square off in a warm up game at Takashinga Sports club.
“There’s a lot of talent, I’m impressed by our bowling line-up. In our batting we have a lot of talent, we had some goals we wanted to achieve most of those with the bat and bowl.
“It is a good opportunity to meet my players and see how they go in a match situation and I have been very impressed,†said Jason Gillespie who is a former Australian fast bowler.
Former England cricketer, Martin Lynch who will take charge of Southern Rocks in the 2010-2011 campaign echoed Gillespie’s sentiments, pointing out the need for guidance of the players, if they are to realise their full potential.
“There’s a hell of a lot of talent in Zimbabwe but then now we are talking about guidance and getting them to understand how good they are, we can’t tell them that but they have to see it for themselves,†said Lynch.
With a few weeks remaining before the 2010-2011 cricket league season begins, Martin Lynch and Jason Gillespie who have vast experience in the domains of international cricket are expected to play a huge role in uplifting the standards of the domestic franchise system by imparting their knowledge to local cricketers.
