Demand for bricks that are made by a sophisticated brick making machine known as QT 12-15 has surged in Chipinge.

Technology makes work easier and improves efficiency and this is exactly the effect that the QT 12-15 machine has brought to the construction industry in Chipinge.

Having passed the ISO certification by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe, the bricks made by the QT 12-15 machine have become very popular with those in the construction industry.

“The demand for the bricks is very high unlike what we thought when we imported the new technology. We have a number of orders that we are struggling to satisfy because of the high demand,” said Dr Win Mlambo, the local businessman.

He also said the machine, a first in Zimbabwe and second in Africa after Egypt, has a production rate of 48 bricks within 20 seconds and 2 million bricks within a week.

“This machinery is called the QT 12-15 and is from China. It converts waste to valuable products with the production rate of the machinery being very high. Expectations are that the new technology will change the face of construction industry in the district,” he said.

With the new government’s agenda focused on infrastructure development, the country can improve its pace towards industrialisation through the use of such high technology.
