Following the launch and the successful implementation of Chirundu One Stop Border Post last year, the government has been awarded the NEPAD Transport for Infrastructure Project of Excellence Award for transport and trade facilitation.

In an interview with ZBC news in the capital, the Minister of Regional Integration and International Cooperation, Mrs Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga who received the award on behalf of government in South Africa said the award goes in line with NEPAD’s vision for regional integration and cooperation.

“The award shows that Zimbabwe and Zambia have embarked on a project that reflects and improves the regional integration agenda. We are also working on measures to improve the flow of goods and services at the Chirundu Border Post,” said Mrs Mushonga.

The Chirundu One-Stop Border Post is one of the best projects that indicated good innovation, trade facilitation and a good example of regional integration.

Currently government is engaging Malawi and Mozambique in a bid to come up with a similar structure.
