The First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa says the needs of the less privileged drive her to continue advocating for the improvement of their social and economic conditions.

This came out when she visited the San community in Makhulela, Bulilima district.

The San community is among the marginalised communities in Zimbabwe.

Some of the families have been living in makeshift houses for the past three years.

The First Lady visited the village head Mrs Machena Ncube and the Sibanda family to have first hand information on their social and economic needs.

Eight members of the same family live in one room while one of the daughters sleeps outside the house together with her husband.

The First Lady later addressed the community and handed over a borehole sunk for the community.

She encouraged women to participate in income generating projects and an irrigation scheme that has been identified for the community.

The community applauded the First Lady for her kindness and love for the marginalised groups.

The San community used to live in the bushes and was only brought to Makhulela community in 1993.

It is through such visits and interaction that the San community gets to know that they are loved and appreciated.
