Preparations for the 6th Ndau Festival of Arts are at an advanced stage, with over 5000 people expected to attend the event set for Chipinge on 22 September.

The festival will be held at Paiyapo Arts Development and Heritage Centre in Chipinge.

Speaking to the ZBC News, Ndau Festival of Arts Chairperson, Mr Philip Kusasa said most traditional dance groups have confirmed their participation at the annual event, adding that some of the dances on cards are Muchongoyo, Madzviti and Mphongo.

“This is the day we set aside to celebrate the Ndau culture through dance, food and books. The day will also focus on the Ndau books. On this day, we are inviting from different ministries, councils and organisations with anything to do with culture,” he added.

This year’s celebrations are running under the theme: ‘Ndau Culture: Enhancing the Conservation of the Environment and Natural Resources for Food Security.’
