There were mixed fortunes for Zimbabwean juniors at the ITF 18 and under way at Harare Sports Club with Thabo Ncube and Rufaro Magarira progressed to the next round.
Action resumed on Tuesday morning with juniors vying for a berth into the next round of ITF action at Harare Sports Club.
Thabo Ncube progressed to the 3rd round of the boy’s category following a 6-2, 6-2 straight sets win over India’s Nash Yagdev.
Following Tuesday’s victory, Ncube was satisfied with his performance, expressing hope of better times ahead.
Other players, however, fell by the wayside in the boy’s section with Tinashe Taruberekera, Michael Happy and Taona Mhwandagara all bowing out.
In the girls’ category, Rufaro Magarira progressed to the second round after a 6-2, 6-2 win over Amy Bloch of South Africa.
Magarira’s win saw her join Kimberly Bhunu in the second round.
Bhunu overcame Megan Lombardi of South Africa 6-1, 6-2 on Monday.
