The National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) says it is geared to scale up blood collection ahead of the festive season.

NBSZ chief executive officer Ms Lucy Marry Marowa said contrary to social media reports claiming donor empathy by seasoned donors, the NBSZ is busy setting up strategies to increase blood collection.

Public affairs manager NBSZ Ms Esther Massundah also noted they have new strategies to boost blood collection by launching awareness campaigns with the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe and other stakeholders.

A pint of blood now cost $80 at public health hospitals and $100 dollars in private health institutions as directed by the government recently.
