The government through the National Building Society (NBS) has brought smiles to pensioners who have suffered for a long time by facilitating their monthly payouts by opening banking halls exclusively for the pensioners.

The pensioners today started receiving their money in hard cash without being subjected to inhuman treatment of having to sleep outside banking halls for several days to for them to access their monthly allocation.

Senior citizens, who spoke to the ZBC News crew, said they are grateful to the government for hearing their plight.

NBS Head of Operations, Mr Mathew Madoda said they have come up with dedicated banking halls for pensioners throughout the country to improve service delivery for the elderly.

“We have heard the concerns of our elderly citizens and we have come up with this strategic move and I think it will go a long way in cushioning them against harsh economic conditions,” he said.

This gesture shows the government’s commitment to continue uplifting the socio-economic wellbeing of Zimbabweans.

Pensioners have been guaranteed a turnaround service time of at most 30 minutes.
