The country’s quality of farming produce is expected to improve after the integration of Agricultural Show Societies  into a single body or organisation to increase food security.

15 Agricultural Show Societies have been integrated into the National Association of Show Societies of Zimbabwe as part of efforts to harmonise operations and increase revenue streams.

The Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Dr Joseph Made said in a speech read on his behalf by a director in the ministry Dr Dumisani Kutshwayo,  government has also endorsed the move as an element that will increase the quality of farming produce across the country.

“More can be done to unlock value for the farming sector,” says Dr Made.

The formation of the association is also an indication of the commitment by players in the farming sector to increase output, says Zimbabwe Agriculture Society chief executive officer Dr Anxious Masuka.

“It is a critical element and we hope for the good times to roll in the future,” Dr Masuka said.

Some of the issues that will be embraced  by the organisation include income generating activities, corporate sponsorship, streamlining costs and annual membership fees among others.
