The Meteorological Services Department says the dry spell that hit the country over the past few weeks is coming to an end with heavy falls expected to cover the whole country starting this Sunday.Latest predictions by the Meteorological Service Department indicate that heavy precipitation flowing from Kariba is expected to spread to the northern parts of the country and eventually cover the whole nation by Sunday.
Senior Meteorological Officer, Mr. Jonathan Chifunya told ZBC News that the dry spell is coming to end and people should brace themselves for a prolonged wet spell.
Mr. Chifunya said people should also brace up for a wet Christmas adding that chances of drought are very slim.
Statistics show that Kariba and Victoria Falls have received the highest rainfall of about 30 milliliters.
The weather forecast also shows that while areas such as Mt. Darwin and Rushinga are likely to receive the rains a bit late, the second half of the season is expected to receive normal to above normal rains.
