The National Association of Primary School Heads (NAPH) Zvimba South Chapter has secured sponsorship to support its various sports teams and recreational activity.

The sponsorship is courtesy of a local finance company.

The sponsorship covers various sporting disciplines including shot put, javelin, soccer, volleyball, netball and percussion and music.

Part of the sponsorship package comprising sports attire and balls has since been handed over to NAPH Zvimba South district by FMC Finance, the sponsors.

The initial package is worth $9000.

FMC chief executive officer Mr Ranga Mavhunga said development of sport talent is well in sync with the thrust of the new education curriculum, hence it should be supported.

NAPH Zvimba South district chairman Mr Amon Mlilo said the gesture by the financial firm is welcome given the challenges the association is faced with in mobilising resources through affiliation fees from pupils.

Meanwhile, Zvimba district schools inspector Mr Andrew Matsikiti has warned schools to guard against acts of robberies and thefts by beefing up security at their institutions.

This follows a spate of robberies witnessed at several schools around the country.

NAPH schools tournaments are the backbone of sport development as they nurtured talent abundant in primary schools before offloading them to their sister organisation, the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH).
