Grassroots sport in the country has received a shot in the arm after a local food manufacturing company, Nestle Zimbabwe availed sponsorship valued at US$80 000.

Under the programme, primary school children will have to undergo a healthy eating regimen, which will reduce obesity thus allowing them to fully participate in sports.

Nestle Zimbabwe Managing Director, Kumbirai Katsande said the programme aims to raise awareness within primary school children on matters to do with nutrition, health and sport.

Principal Director in the Ministry of Education, Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Paul Damasane hailed the partnership saying it will bring a sense of responsibility and professionalism in sport.

NAPH pledged commitment in implementing the project which will see teams competing from district to provincial levels in athletics and physical education.
