nama.jpgThe National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) has announced the list of nominees for the 17th National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) edition to be held this month in Harare.

 A total of 96 nominees have been announced by the NACZ as nominees for the 17th NAMA awards.

NAMA Adjudication Panel Chairperson Professor Ruby Magosvongwe applauded the geographic spread of entries across all genres as well as quality of artworks despite limited resources.

 Some of the nominees include the Outstanding Screen Production-Television where Muchaneta directed by Eddingtone Hatitongwe, Wenera by Zolile Makeleni and Muzita Rababa directed by Shem Zemura are vying for the top prize.

 In the music category, the Outstanding Male Musicians nominees are Xq, Trevor Dongo and Jah Prayzah.

 In the female category, they are Ammara Brown, Janet Manyowa and Selmor Mtukudzi.

 Nominees for the outstanding album are Jah Prayzah for Kutonga Kwaro, Beyond by Trevor Dongo and Inhliziyo by Caleb Msipa.

Other categories include special award, media, visual, theatre, dance and literary arts.
