The National Aids Council (NAC) has embarked on a sensitisation programme in Mvurwi with a view to ensure 90 percent of the population knows their HIV status.

In a bid to encourage the country’s population to know their HIV status ahead of the World AIDS Day commemorations, the NAC organised a music gala in Mvurwi town.

NAC provincial coordinator Mr David Nyamurera said the objective is to ensure communities are aware of their status which encourages the use of medication.

Besides the musical show, a number of people went through the HIV testing and counseling process.

Mashonaland Central Minister of State, who is also Mazowe North legislator, Advocate Martin Dinha urged the community to desist from encouraging child marriages as it is contributing to high HIV prevalence rate.

The musical gala attracted high riding musician Andy Muridzo and other local groups.

Besides HIV testing, there was screening for cervical cancer which has become a menace to the country’s health delivery system.
