NAC revealed that a total of 35 artists from the disciplines of music, theatre, film and television, dance, media, visual and literary arts will be honoured at a ceremony scheduled for February 18 next year.

In an interview with ZBC News, the Deputy Director of the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Mr Nicholas Moyo said the council is now inviting all those stakeholders involved in arts management from the provinces around the country to come and submit their works before November 30.

“Artists, arts organisations and stakeholders should submit works that were produced between December 1, 2010 and November 30 2011,” Mr Nicholas Moyo said.

He also said that members of the public are welcome.

“Apart from submissions by the artists themselves, members of the public are also free to nominate artists of their choice,” Moyo said.

Moyo said so far the council has already received some entries that were submitted and they are looking forward to more submissions before the deadline.

Forms are available at the offices of the National Arts Council offices throughout the provinces and at the national galleries around the country.

NAMA seeks to promote excellence among local artists, encourage creativity and the preservation of Zimbabwean culture.

This year’s award ceremony will be held on the 18th of February at a venue to be announced.
