A Mvurwi based artiste, Brainmore ‘Ding’ Chipara has released a video paying tribute to late music icon and national hero, Dr Oliver Mtukudzi who died in January.

The song titled Hona was released in February and the complimentary video was released onto the market last week.

“In the song, I am putting myself in the shoes of Tuku’s wife, Daisy and singing what must be going through her in terms of thoughts and emotions. Besides getting inspiration from Tuku, he was from this area and I felt obliged to pay tribute not just to have artistes form Harare or other areas singing about one of our own,” Ding said.

Ding, who burst onto the music scene in 2003, has previously released an 8 track album titled: Hupenyu, working with labels such as Chillspot, Simplex and DKT.

The Mvurwi artiste however bemoaned challenges faced by musicians far from Harare in getting airplay and recognition for their works since most broadcasters are headquartered in the capital.
