nevernay chinyanga.jpgThe body of the late actor, singer and radio personality, Nervernay  Chinyanga arrived in the country from South Africa where he died last Friday.  

After the arrival of the remains, scores of people gathered at the Zimbabwe College of Music in Harare this afternoon for a memorial service for Chinyanga.

Chinyanga’s body arrived in the country this Friday morning and was collected from the Harare International Airport by relatives and fellow actors, before being ferried to the Zimbabwe College of Music auditorium were scores of artists, fans and government officials gathered to pay their last respects to the artist.

Speaker after speaker praised Chinyanga who was popularly known as Muwengwa in the soap Studio 263.

Chinyanga was described as a father figure, intelligent, kind and a true son of the soil for his deep understanding of the Shona language and culture among other attributes.

Chinyanga’s body was later taken to his rural home in Uzumba where it will lie in state before burial tomorrow (Saturday) at 1430 hours.

Chinyanga who also featured in Tiriparwendo as Kutapira and several commercials succumbed to pneumonia in South Africa last Friday at Natal Spruit Hospital while seeking treatment for diabetes and heart complication.

He leaves behind a wife and 6 children.
