The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Herbert Chitepo Barracks will soon begin construction of a Purpose Built School in Mutare following a three year wait by the parents.
3 Brigade Primary School headmaster, Captain Muvengi Simiti said the construction of the school will commence immediately with the first block being expected to be completed by the schools second term of next year.
“We are going to start with one block which will be a two storey. It will comprise of 16 classes. Parents who have children learning here started contributing towards this project three years back. Now we have about $90 000 to start construction. We expect our first block to be complete by second term next year,” said Captain Simiti.
Manicaland provincial principal education director Mr Peter Muzavazi praised the ZNA for their efforts towards promoting education not only in Manicaland but throughout the country.
“We are grateful to ZNA for providing facilities to take care of education around the country. The ministry and government will be part of these noble efforts to prepare a good future for our children. I was happy to see that the school is promoting technical vocational skills as it is critical to add such skills to the learning process,” he said.
The ZNA has been engaging in community development initiatives throughout the country building schools, hospitals and rehabilitating roads among other projects.
