The completion of the construction of the High Court building in Mutare is expected to ensure effective and efficient delivery of justice.

Chief Justice Luke Malaba who was touring the Mutare High Court building noted that the construction of the structure is in fulfilment of the constitutional mandate.

He said the completion of the Mutare High Court will reduce costs in seeking justice in Harare and Bulawayo while lessening delays in cases.

“I think we will all agree that it is ready to serve its purpose. What is left is for us, the judge president, acting secretary and myself to sit down and decide when this building will be available to the people of Manicaland,” he said.

The Mutare High Court will become the fourth after the construction of one in Masvingo in 2016, a move that will help reduce congestion and case back log.

Statistics show the Mutare High Court case back log stood at 63 with some dating back to 2003.
