The MDC faction led by Professor Arthur Mutambara says there should be no celebration in the Professor Welshman Ncube camp after a recent court decision barred Mutambara from exercising any function vested in the president of the MDC formation and principal in the inclusive government pending finalisation of the matter.Â
The High Court interdict by Justice Nicholas Ndou on Wednesday has been brushed off by the faction as a temporary relief which should not be a cause for jubilation in the Ncube camp.
In a telephone interview with ZBC News, Mr. Maxwell Zimuto from the Joubert Mudzumwe faction which has backed Mutambara in the struggle for presidency in the formation said the interdict is just temporary and has not caused alarm in their camp.
Deputy Spokesperson in the Ncube formation, Mr. Kurauone Chihwayi told ZBC News that the formation is happy with the interdict even though it is a temporary measure.
The court order bars Professor Mutambara from exercising duties as MDC president until the High Court makes a ruling on a petition brought by a number of his supporters challenging Ncube’s election as party president.
The squabbles are a result of a Congress held in January which elected Ncube.
The Joubert Mudzumwe faction aligned to Professor Mutambara insists that it does not recognise the Congress and its legitimacy.
