Music fans from all walks of life continue to mourn the death of Sungura maestro Tongai Moyo, who was affectionately known by his multitudes of fans as Dhewa or Muchina Muhombe.

A couple of months ago, Dhewa told ZBC News in an interview that although he was indeed battling with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, his condition had become unpredictable.

Tongai Moyo rose to fame in the late 1980s as a solo artist before the formation of the Utakataka Express. At the time of his death, Dhewa was a singer, songwriter, dancer and choreographer who was so dearly loved whenever he was live on stage.

His hits such as Vimbo, Samanyemba, Ndoita Zvangu Ndoga and Pinda Panyanya among others took the country by storm.

Dhewa will be buried in his home village of Sisombe in Zhombe on Tuesday.
