Former Caps United, Highlanders and Dynamos player Stewart Murisa says the introduction of a scouting system by topflight clubs is critical in improving the quality of football being exhibited by premiership teams.
Several top foreign clubs have mastered the art of talent identification by making use of player scouts that evaluate the talent of footballers with a view to signing them on a professional contract.
Murisa who was among those that graced a tournament recently held in Nyanga said topflight teams need to consider employing scouts so as to improve on the quality of our players.
Other guests that graced the Nyanga Sports Gala concurred with Murisa outlining the importance of giving equal opportunities to talented athletes in outlying areas.
There has been debate over the quality of players turning out for topflight teams with questions over whether players in the premiership are a true representation of the talent in Zimbabwe.
Often coaches have been accused of turning a blind eye on emerging young talent and a scouting system could perhaps be a partial solution to problems in the Zimbabwe junior development system.
