Former Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Prisca Mupfumira, today appeared in court on fresh charges of criminal abuse of office.

The court heard that sometime in October 2016, Mupfumira instructed Ngoni Masoka, who was the then Finance Director in the same ministry, to use public funds to pay for air tickets for her three aides to attend her daughter’s wedding in Cape Town, South Africa.

It is alleged that Mupfumira also used public funds to pay for hotel accommodation in South Africa and tax services for her 7 directors and her relatives.

In her latest court appearance, Mupfumira was remanded out of custody to the 22rd of this month on the same bail conditions as of the last matter.

Mupfumira is out on $5 000 bail coupled with stringent conditions. She was in custody for almost two months and is facing seven counts of criminal abuse of office involving US$95 million.
