arthur mutambara.jpgDeputy Prime Minister Professor Arthur Mutambara says multilateral institutions should publicly call for the removal of sanctions instead of paying lip service.


Briefing journalists in the capital, Deputy Prime Minister Mutambara who is also the chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Debt said government is working with multilateral institutions on how Zimbabwe can clear  its debt of US$5,7billion. 


Professor Mutambara said the denouncing the illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe by multilateral institutions such as the African Development Bank, World Bank will be critical in ensuring that the government’s debt strategy becomes fruitful.

The call by the Deputy Prime Minister comes at a time when the country is celebrating the restoration of Zimbabwe’s IMF voting rights and hosting of the visiting African Development Bank officials who have held several meetings with government officials and they have pledged their support for the government on strategies to clear the debt.
