mukonoweshuro.jpgThe Minister of Public Service, Professor Eliphas Mukonoweshuro has died.

 

He was 58.

 

Professor Mukonoweshuro passed away early this morning in South Africa where he was receiving treatment.

MDC-T National Organising Secretary, Nelson Chamis,a said the news of Professor Mukonoweshuro’s death is a sad blow to the government, his party as well as to the people of Gutu South where he was their representative in the House of Assembly.

Mr Chamisa said Prof. Mukonoweshuro was a very intelligent and quiet man who was passionate about the education of his fellow countrymen.

Prof. Mukonoweshuro was the Minister of Public Service and MDC-T National Executive member and Portfolio Secretary. Mourners are gathered at number 11 Woodgate, Northwood, Mount Pleasant, Harare.

 

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

 

Meanwhile, the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, President Robert Mugabe says he has learnt with sadness the death of Professor Eliphas Mukonoweshuro.

President Mugabe said Mr. Mukonoweshuro has been unwell for some time with his condition deteriorating in the last few weeks.

President Mugabe also said he has granted a state-assisted funeral, a modest gesture to a man who served his country well, both as an academic and as a Minister.

Cde Mugabe added that the state will assume full responsibility for the repatriation of his body.
