Muchongoyo dominated most performances at this year’s Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival  and Competition Manicaland provincial finals held in Chipinge.

As the curtain of the dance festival is now coming to an end, the holding of the festival in Manicaland has raised expectations of a grand finale on 5 August in Bulawayo following outstanding performances.

Manicaland Association Chartered Carrier of Artists, who are now the provincial champions, said they will give their best at the national finals and vowed to promote muchongoyo dance and help the province retain the trophy as they are the current holders.

Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association President, Kennedy Kachuruka and Acting Manicaland Provincial Arts Manager, Alexander Tunzi said the competition remains important in promoting local culture and talent.

The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival in Chipinge also had performances that were not part of the competition that left people in stitches.
