maryrobinson.jpgThe Former President of Ireland Mrs Mary Robinson who is leading a delegation of eminent African women to the five day long  high level dialogue on women’s economic, political and social empowerment  says she is impressed with what Zimbabwean women are doing to empower themselves economically.


Mrs Robinson said this when she met with Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces President Robert Mugabe at Munhumutapa buildings in Harare.


President Robert Mugabe who is strong supporter of women empowerment in various spheres of life is hailed in his country, the African continent and other parts of the world for adopting various enabling policies to ensure the emancipation and empowerment of women. 
The visiting former Irish President and First Female President of her country Mrs Mary Robinson said she is pressed with the projects, resilience and entrepreneurship of women in Zimbabwe.



She hailed the work that the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Gender and Community Development and the organ on National Healing, Reconciliation, and Integration are doing to help Zimbabwean women and she pledged her continued support to the women of Zimbabwe.



She urged women from across the political divide should seek ways of removing cultural provisions that make women feel inferior and deprive them from enjoying their full rights.


Cde Mugabe opened the women’s dialogue on Monday and expressed government’s commitment to continue improving women’s status.
