nicholas goche.jpgTransport, Communication and Infrastructural Development Minister, Nicholas Goche, has urged all motorists to observe traffic regulations and use the roads wisely.

In a statement, Cde Goche said he is grieved by the loss of lives through road accidents that occurred this festive season.

He said public transport service providers, particularly rural bus operators and commuter omnibus operators, have obligations to meet, among them maintaining their normal timetables, refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol and desisting from over-charging.

Cde Goche warned that violation of regulations could lead to cancellation of operators’ licences and route authorities.

He urged the public to report any cases of unjustifiable price hiking by the public transporters to the Commissioner of Road Motor Transport on 0712 212 921 or 0712 865 313.

Cde Goche wished travellers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
