chihuri.jpgMembers of the Zimbabwe Republic Police leaving for United Nations peacekeeping missions in Sudan and East Timor have been urged to lift the country’s flag and maintain the high standards set by their predecessors.

Zimbabwe has produced a commendable track record of performance in peace keeping operations world wide.

Briefing the 58 outward bound police officers and one officer returning from a similar mission in Liberia, Police Commissioner General Cde Augustine Chihuri said five of the female police officers who were to be deployed in Darfur as Community Policing Officers were specially requested by the UN which is a clear testimony of the professionalism of the force.

The officers successfully completed the selection process by the UN Selection Assistance Tests Team.
 Zimbabwe has taken part in many other UN peacekeeping missions in countries such as Liberia, Kosovo, Sudan and East Timor.
