The annual fair roared into life on Saturday with a tourism procession which culminated into the arrival of the first group of international buyers for an exhibition which begins tomorrow at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
Speaking to journalists shortly after arrival at the Harare International Airport, a tourism player in China, Henry Cheng said they are in the country to participate in this year’s edition of the Sanganai-Hlanganani Expo with hopes to market Zimbabwe as one of the best tourism destinations in the world.
“Zimbabwe is a beatiful country and we hope to come for such exhibitions every year so that we introduce Zimbabwe to more Chinese,” he said.
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) Marketing Executive in China, Ms Monica Liue said the delegation is drawn from various parts of the Asian country, adding that most of them are looking at ways of investing in the tourism industry and to forge serious business engagements with locals to help unlock business opportunities.
This year’s Sanganai/Hlanganani World Travel and Tourism Africa Fair is set to attract about 160 local and foreign exhibitors and will be running under the theme, ‘Promoting peace through tourism.’
