A call has been made for resettled farmers to embrace modern technology in their agricultural practice to increase productivity.

The remarks were made by Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Deputy Minister, Cde Davis Marapira at a green show and life brand agriculture services project launch held at Ruya B farm in Mazowe.

The event was aimed at showcasing the advantages of modern technology in agriculture production, food security and profitability.

Minister Marapira hailed private companies that continue to compliment government in its efforts to try and capacitate farmers with modern technology.

Life Brand Agriculture Services chief operations officer, Israel Kembo underscored the important role modern technology plays in sustainable agriculture.

Programmes that have been spearheaded by government to promote modern agriculture practices include the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe farm mechanisation programme and the Brazil food for Africa initiative.
